Moore Cataloging Procedures

6XX _4

Sometimes there will be duplicate headings in English in a 650 X4.  These often come from the British Library (UKM in 040) and should also be deleted. But, first examine these headings to see:

a.       If there is a substantial difference between these two sets of English headings, i.e., there are more or different subject headings in the 650 X4s, please refer the book to the Bibliographic Control Librarian to evaluate.

Non-DLC/Non-English Subject Headings

Please delete non-English subject headings (when NOT coded 6XX _0 for Library of Congress) from bib records when you copy catalog.  These include the following  and indicators in 6XX fields:

6XX  X7

6XX  X6

The most common you will see will be 650s and 655s.  Many 655 with second indicator 7s will be in English--only delete those that are NOT in English.
