How to transfer Zotero to Refworks

Export your Zotero Library

1. To export your entire library, click on the gear icon in the Zotero toolbar and select Export Library. Group libraries are not included.

2. You will be asked for an export format:

RIS is s standard citation format shared by EndNote, Mendeley, and Zotero. 

Note: Zotero folders do not transfer automatically to Refworks. If you do not wish to reorganize your folders, you can select an individual collection or individual items, right-click, and choose the Export option to export only a part of your library .


Import to RefWorks

1. Within RefWorks, click the + Add button and then on the pull-down menu, select Import References

2. Select Import from a file, then drag and drop the file or select from your computer.  Click Import

3. On the import references page, select RIS format for the RIS format.

4. To view your imported items click the view Last Import Folder button.

Note: Zotero folders do not transfer automatically to RefWorks. If you do not wish to reorganize your folders, you can select an individual collection or individual items, right-click, and choose the Export option to export only a part of your library.
