RefWorks is a web-based research management tool designed to help you gather, organize, store, annotate, and share all types of resources used in your research, assignments, or dissertation.
RefWorks is the University Library's preferred research management tool since comprehensive support is provided. It is also FREE for all Rider students, faculty, and staff.
RefWorks can help you throughout your research workflow. Finding, saving, and organizing references is easy and efficient. Sharing your research and citing references in your writing takes just a few clicks.

2. Find Rider University on the list.
3. Log in with your Rider Key. Use your full email address on this screen.
Find the Citation/Export Buttons next to your article
Most databases offer a Cite or Citation button for individual articles— usually located on the side of the article page.
Click the Cite or Export link to export the citation directly into your RefWorks account.
❌ There is a Cite button, but RefWorks is not an option
1. Find the link for BibTex or RIS
Download the .bib or .ris file to your computer.
2. In RefWorks, go to + Add on the top horizontal menu bar to the left
3. Select ↓ Import references
3. Drop file or select from your computer
❌ If There’s No Citation Link at all
Use the Save to RefWorks browser bookmarklet (if installed) to manually capture citation data from these sites.
When you are in Refworks, select your citations
There are several options for citation styles. We recommend APA Sentence Casing, DOI: https://doi.org
For education, psychology, and other social sciences.
If you have already signed up for an account and want to use SSO, please follow the instructions shown below:
In the upper right hand corner, click the triangle next to your name to open the user menu, select Settings.

4. A confirmation will appear at the top of your refworks screen.
