The Moore Library is a selective Federal Depository Library. The Library selects mostly federal government documents in online format, offered by the U.S. Government Publication Office (GPO), that meet the academic needs of the University. These documents are made available to the Rider University community and the general public. Some of the subject areas that have been historically collected include materials from the United States State Department, the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Commerce, Department of Labor, The Smithsonian Institution, Department of Defense, and the National Labor Relations Board. |
What is a Government Document?
Any publication published by a government agency (federal, state or local) at the public expense is a government document. Nowadays, 95% of the current U.S. documents are made available on the Internet. However, most U.S. documents earlier than mid-1990s are in tangible formats (i.e. print and microfiche) and are housed in the federal depository libraries throughout the nation.
