Chicago style has two options

Author-Date 
used by scholars in the social sciences and sciences.
Notes/Bibliography
used by scholars in history, arts, and humanities

 

  1. An in-text citation (parenthetical)
  2. A reference list

 

  1. A superscript number in the text and corresponding note
  2. A bibliography
