Search Your Public Libraries

Rider students, faculty, and staff may borrow books and other items from the Mercer County Library.  

  • Students: Bring your Rider ID and a copy of your current class schedule or tuition bill to qualify for a library card.
  • Faculty and staff must show ID and proof of employment with Rider.

Remote this semester? You can apply for a library card online! This will give you access to their ebooks and streaming services like Hoopla and Overdrive.

F. Students

Students who do not reside in a member municipality, but attend public or private schools in a member municipality, or who temporarily reside in a member municipality in order to attend school may be issued a card, free of charge. A student card is issued upon completion of an application, and presentation of a current, valid student photographic identification, along with a current school year class schedule or current school year tuition bill. Student cards are issued for a period of one school year and are renewable after August 15 of each year.

2. Examine the results to see the format: print, ebook, audio book, or movie (read-along books in Hoopla are called "Hoopla movies").

1. Search your terms (listed again below).

  • OR and truncation (*) do not work in MCL's catalog.
  • Try a search both ways:  "African American" and "African Americans."
    • There might be unique results in each set.

2a. Limit by Recommended Age "Juvenile" or "Young Adult."

OR

2b. Limit by Subject "Juvenile fiction."

"Mexican Americans" is in quotes in the search box. Limit options include Recommended Age and Subject. Select "Include" to limit.

Suggested ethnic/cultural groups to search based on your assignment.

These are Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH). Books about these groups will have a subject heading with the term(s). Hint: Enclose these in " " to search as a phrase: "Korean Americans"

Want the book to come to you? We can borrow the title you want from another library. This will take a few days to two weeks.

1. Place a request the ILL & Document Delivery button on the library home page, or click the link here.

  • Log in with your Rider Key.
  • Select the Book form.
  • Enter the information about the book you want. Title, Author, and Date of publication is required. If you have the ISBN number, this is helpful, too!
  • Enter the date you no longer need it by. You must allow at least two weeks for a book to be delivered.

2. You will be notified by email when the book is ready for you to pick up at the Circulation Desk.
