Talbott Music Library’s Special Collections and Archives

by Anonymous on 2023-02-20T10:00:00-05:00 | 0 Comments

You may or may not be familiar with Talbott Music Library’s main collections, like our sheet music, music literature, and even our teaching materials. Did you know that Talbott also has an archives and special collections area that hold lots of really cool historical items, as well?

We have a ton of great collections within this area, such as a collection from WCC alumni Julia A. Perry (much of which has been digitized!), a collection from WCC founder John Finley Williamson, and even scrapbook collections from various sources (like past students, faculty, staff, and admins) dating back to the 1920s!

Our Archives and Special Collections aren’t all just books either - we have some really cool items that have been donated throughout the years. Some items include: this WCC choir robe from the 1930s,

plenty of historical photographs of WCC, like this 1920s tour image,

and even a needlepoint of the WCC lyre seal!

Our Archives and Special Collections area is not generally browsable to the public - meaning that in order to go into the area, you would have to make an appointment. However, we are always happy to show you around! If you are interested in checking it out, please reach out to us at Talbott - we would love to show you around!
