Essential Databases for Freshman

  • RefWorks: Streamline your research process! Learn how to effortlessly collect, organize, and cite your sources, saving you valuable time and ensuring academic integrity in your papers and projects.
  • Kanopy: Discover a vast collection of critically acclaimed films, documentaries, and educational videos. Whether for course assignments or personal enrichment, Kanopy offers a rich streaming experience.
  • Academic Search Premier: Your go-to for multidisciplinary research. This comprehensive database provides full-text articles from thousands of scholarly journals, magazines, and other authoritative sources across virtually every academic discipline.
  • Statista: Need data? Statista offers quick access to statistics, industry reports, market forecasts, and infographics on a wide range of topics, perfect for presentations, papers, and understanding global trends.

Introduction to Refworks

Are you confused by all the different citation styles! Learn how to use RefWorks, a citation management software provided by the University Library to clear up the confusion. RefWorks allows you to save citations from databases, organize them, attach PDFs, and then format and insert the citations into Word or Google Documents in one of 15,000 different citation styles. Incredibly helpful tool that will save you time as you write. This hands-on session will provide live demonstrations, practical tips, and opportunities to ask questions, ensuring you leave feeling prepared and ready to tackle your assignments.
