Using Library One Search to Find Articles and Books in Political Science

Under "Choose a Discipline to Search, you can choose to limit your results to "Political Science" and/or "Politics and Government."

  • Check the box(es) before you enter your search terms, and your results will be limited to books, articles, and journals in this area.

 

Library One Search Advanced Search screen. Under the search box, is the Search Options section of the screen. Choose a Discipline to search lists 68 disciplines that you can select. Political Science and Politics & Government are selected and highlighted.

You can remove the limiter after you search, if you want to see more results.

  • Under Current Search, click the x next to the discipline(s) you have selected to remove it.

 

Under search boxes, on the left hand menu, under Refine Results, Current Search, Disciplines, Political Science has an x next to it, and is highlighted.

Limit to: Peer Reviewed to find peer-reviewed or scholarly articles.

  • This limits to your search to articles, and will not include scholarly books.

Under Limit To: in the left hand menu, the Peer Reviewed option is highlighted.

Alternatively, you can choose "Academic Journals" under source types.

Under Source Types, Academic Journals option is highlighted.

Open the Databases category to see where your results are coming from.

  • You can choose to search within particular databases by checking the boxes.

The Databases category on the left hand menu is expanded by clicking on the Show More button, and a scrollable list of databases appears.
